This year even World Camp t-shirts are going local! You heard us right; we're focusing our effort on localizing and expanding every area of programming we can. This summer's Malawi session uniforms were printed right here in Lilongwe! Check out our sweet shirts on Ngoni and John below. (Our India Program uniforms will also be printed locally, more on this to come.) We talk about empowerment, community support, and sustainability throughout our curriculum. Well, we believe in the power of these with the "big" issues, but also in the seemingly small and individual choices we make everyday.
And that's where you come in. Beginning in 2011, all program uniforms/shirts will be printed locally and manufactured by sweat-free, fair trade companies. And we're looking for a new design! So let your creative, inspired, minds run wild and join our effort. Submit ideas/designs to malawipc@gmail.com by 1 August 2010. Those whose design is selected will receive a free t-shirt! For the rest of you, shirts will be available for purchase in time for the holidays, and all proceeds will go directly towards our India and Malawi OTE programs, our new LABS (Localized Action for Better Solutions) intern/outreach program, and our Malawi Scholarship Program. How cool that something as simple as the shirt you put on in the morning can directly affect, inspire, support people on another continent! We'll soon be announcing the creation of a World Camp calendar to commemorate our past 10 years and celebrate the next 10, so start looking through your old pictures. Zikomo kwambili/thank you and stay tuned for updates from our volunteers.
Tionana /see you later, your Malawi Coordinator Team (Jaren, Rachel, Ian, Karen, and Katy)
